My name is Bert. I’m a 50 years old, tattooed and bearded denim-lover. A few times a week I change my denim and Red Wings for running gear. Till now I’ve ran more than 50 marathon/ultras. I’m most proud on running the 90 km Comrades marathon in South Africa. My other passion is First Wave Ska or Early Reggae. Listening to this music makes me feel good and relaxed.
- Why do you share your outfits? And why Instagram?
In 2014 my two kids got an Instagram account. When I saw them active on it, I felt it was something for me too. I love to be creative and I like to share that this way.
- What makes your Instagram feed so special?
Oh…, I don’t think my Instagram is special. But I think I have a sort of “own style”. Most times I keep it as simple as possible. I only shoot what I want to show, and also try to get details as fine as possible in the picture.
- Where does your inspiration come from?
Sometimes I get ideas from other Instagrammers. But most of the time an idea pops up suddenly.
- Where does your love for denim come from? When did it start?
For as long as I can remember I’ve always been interested in rugged style clothes. I’m lucky that I can wear what I want at work, I don’t have to wear an uniform or suit. Since approx. 5 years I’ve been wearing raw denim.
- Your top 3 favorite (denim)brands?
Rogue Territory – I love this brand the most. Why…? It’s simple, I love everything they make.
Benzak Denim Developers – Of course I like them because it is a Dutch brand. The quality of the products is superb.
Pure Blue Japan – At the moment I wear their 22oz denim and I really love it.
6. What is your favorite accessory?
Except my belt from Dyemond Goods I don’t really wear accessories. I am still looking for a handmade leather wallet and bag. So, if there are some nice bag or wallet producers reading this: please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m always willing to promote some good and nice stuff….hahaha.
7. What items do you wear the most at the moment?
At the moment I wear my Pure Blue Japan XX-013 22 oz denim. Always combined with Chup socks and a pair of Red Wing boots/shoes.
- What is your favorite shop? And what is your favorite webstore?
I love shopping in Amsterdam. My favorite shop is the Red Wing store in “de negen straatjes”-area. There are a lot of webshops I’m checking out but my favorite webshop is Cultizm in Germany.
- Do you care about the production process?
I certainly care about the production process. When possible I want to know where the fabrics are made and where the clothes are produced. That’s the reason why I like the brands named in question 5.
- What are your dreams for the future?
I don’t have future dreams. I try to be happy in the present moment.
