My name is Kang. I am a seller in the Samutprakarn province in Thailand. I started to wear jeans when I was about 16 or 17 years old. My love for raw denim started in 2010. The aging of the texture and the color evolution is what got me hooked to raw denim. For that reason, I wear my denim as long as I can.
Today, I own many different brands, from many different countries… USA brands, Japanese brands and Thai brands. My favorite style is workwear vintage, because that style looks so cool and because I can wear it at work.
Just one more thing about me; I really, really love Thai food, especially street food. Street food is everywhere in Thailand and so very delicious. My favorite Thai dish is Somtum, a salad made with Papaya.
- Why do you share your outfits? And why Instagram?
I love to mix and match different styles. It’s like a test for me, I just try new outfits and learn from my attempts. There is no right or wrong in trying new styles.
Via Instagram I can connect to a lot of like-minded people. Not only in Thailand, but to people all over the world. I can show them my outfits and get inspired by their pictures.
- What makes your Instagram feed so special?
My Instagram account isn’t very special. All I do is showing the evolution of my jeans and my mix of different styles to my followers.
- Where does your inspiration come from?
A long time ago, I saw some pictures of a denim guy on Instagram. I started following him and I saw a lot of great faded jeans coming by. I got inspired and wanted to start my own account.
- Where does your love for denim come from? When did it start?
About 6 years ago, I heard of raw denim for the first time. I searched on the internet to learn more about denim. When I understood what raw denim included, I was addicted. I wanted to see the evolution of raw denim for myself!
- Your top 3 favorite (denim)brands?
Levi’s is my top favorite denim brand, it is like the legend brand of denim. I like Levi’s for its long history and their influence in the evolution of jeans. Many brands worldwide take inspiration out of Levi’s designs.
Mister Freedom is another favorite denim brand. I like their details and the materials they use. Their designs are very unique and an inspiration to me.
Iron Heart is the brand were it all started for me. For this reason it will always be a special brand. Their use of heavyweight denim fabrics is so cool.
6. What is your favorite accessory?
My vintage cap is very important to me because it make me look smart and different. Another advantage is that I can go outside without doing my hair =). The hat that I wear most is a vintage hat of the brand New York Hat.
7. What items do you wear the most at the moment?
I love to wear denim jackets. As you know, denim jackets are more difficult to fade than jeans. It is more challenging to me. At the moment I am wearing the Mister Freedom lot 64 denim jacket.
- What is your favorite shop? And what is your favorite webstore?
My favorite store, both online as offline, is Pronto denim. Pronto denim has several stores in Bangkok and has a wide variety of brands. When I need to buy a new pair of jeans, I will always find what I am looking for at Pronto.
- Do you care about the production process?
The production process is kind of new to me. I do not know that much about the process, but I am very curious about it.
- What are your dreams for the future?
I will wear my denim every day and as long as I can. But, more importantly, denim has gotten me a lot of new friends. Via Instagram, via trade shows, I met so many like-minded denim heads. I hope to continue making a lot of new friends in the future.
