Bata Bullets x Uncle Rocco’s Limited Selvedge Denim Sneaker
Bata Bullets, the iconic brand of the 60s and 70s, which re-released its much-loved classics in 2016 is back in 2017. Together with the Australian barbershop Uncle Rocco’s they will release a limited selvedge denim sneaker.
Bata Bullets were first developed in 1964 in Maryland, USA. The first collection consisted of a number of basketball shoes, developed for the local NBA team, The Baltimore Bullets. Bata Bullets expanded and designed sneakers for other sports branches, and over time, people started to wear the sneakers on the streets. Nowadays, the collection is based on quality and accessibility and is worn by a wide audience. “Uncle Rocco’s were making jeans in Melbourne using premium Japanese selvedge denim so we explored the idea of doing a limited edition run of Bata Bullets using this same denim,” explained Michael Wyatt, Company Manager of Bata Australia and New Zealand.
Uncle Rocco’s is an old-school barbershop and is located in the industrial heart of Port Melbourne in Australia. Owned and run by third generation barber Fabien Sfameni, Uncle Rocco’s is not just a barbershop, it’s a brand, a brand that celebrates the history of true denim culture. Uncle Rocco’s hand crafts and retails an exclusive range of selvedge denim jeans which will now feature across the limited edition Bata Bullets x Uncle Rocco’s hi-top range.
The Bata Bullets x Uncle Rocco’s collection is made from Japanese selvedge denim and is limited to only 300 pairs. The sneaker features red line Japanese 13.5 oz. selvedge denim with a 3 x 1 right hand twill. The weft yarns of the denim have a light beige tint to create a slightly aged look. This pair of sneakers will fade uniquely alongside your pair of jeans.
The limited Bata Bullets x Uncle Rocco’s will be available at a number of stockists including the Bata Bullets webstore from the 12th of June for a price of $139,00 AUD.
