Spring/Summer 18 interview with Morgan Sundberg, head of design of Nudie Jeans
The Robin Denim SS18 Series almost comes to an end. With only two more weeks to go, we have already gathered some great information about the upcoming Spring/ Summer collections of popular denim brands. We started with the guys of Momotaro Jeans before we featured the interview of Karl, founder of Rogue Territory. The third brand that answered our questions was Japan Blue Jeans and last week Lennaert, founder of Benzak Denim Developers spoke about his upcoming collection.
For the next chapter of the Robin Denim SS18 we reached out to Morgan Sundberg, head of design at Nudie Jeans. Morgan will reveal the theme of the upcoming Nudie Jeans collection, the initial inspiration and the associated colors. We are delighted with the insight Morgan gave us, so make sure you read every single word!

Where does the initial inspiration for the upcoming collection come from?
We’ve been digging deep into the history of workwear for Spring 2018 collection, drawing inspirations from craftsmen, carpenters and mechanics, for whom form follows function, and their stories of Nordic mythology being told while hammering away, staying true to urban denim and workwear tradition of our hometown Gothenburg.

Can you describe the process behind the upcoming collection?
Designing the Nudie Jeans collection is a continuous work with season less sustainable jeanswear, where seasons overlap, refining and adding new fits, cuts and stories, staying true to Nudie Jeans philosophy and the history of Wild North, transformed into modern urban jeanswear.

For denim brands, autumn / winter is usually the best season to sell, have you tried to change it with the new spring / summer collection?
As a global brand, there is always winter or summer somewhere in the world, you´ll find some lighter weight denims in the collection, with yet a rustic authentic denim look.
