Momotaro x Indigoskin Lot4: Pre-order now
Two giants in the denim industry bundled their strengths, their identities, and their cultures to form an exclusive collaboration. It being already their fourth collaboration, Momotaro and Indigoskin once again succeeded in incorporating their expertise into several ‘out-of-this-world’ garments. The collection comprises a pair of jeans, a short, and a denim jacket.
As you might already know, the brand name ‘Momotaro’ is inspired by a famous Japanese folklore about a boy whose name is Momotaro, which literally means ‘peach boy’. The collection is inspired on the later chapters of the story. After Momotaro and his friends defeated a giant in Japan, they travel across the ocean to slay the rampaging Thai giants in the Himmapan forest. The collection will feature many details that refer to this story, for example, the indigo-dyed print on the pocket lining and the flowers on the ‘Going to Battle’ stripes on the left back pocket.
The fabric used for this collaboration is made of US mixed cotton and woven into an exclusive 16 oz. fabric. It is woven in a such a way that it creates a rougher texture that will fade beautifully over time. The selvedge ID features both the pink Momotaro signature as well as the gold, copper, and silver signature of Indigoskin. The back pockets are strengthened with hidden rivets and the buttons of the jeans are a mix of Momotaro and Indigoskin buttons.
The pocket lining of the jeans is made from a deep indigo-dyed fabric. The printed pocket lining features the adventurous tale of Momotaro and his friends riding on a dragon-horse while slaying a Thai Giant. The ‘Going to Battle’ stripes, normally placed on the right back pocket, are moved to the left back pocket and display an embroidery of ‘heaven flowers’. These ‘heaven flowers’ can, according to the story, be found in the Himmapan forest, the lair of the evil Thai giants. The right back pocket carries an embroidery of Indigoskin’s logo and a tab of a peach from Momotaro.
For the inner yoke, Momotaro and Indigoskin used a satin fabric, dyed in natural indigo with a pattern that is exclusively designed for this collaboration. Just like the inner yoke, the deerskin leather patch is also dyed with indigo and resembles gold-printed artwork. The indigo used to dye the inner yoke and patch is made by Rampuya, Japan’s number one indigo dye factory.
The jeans are available in three different fits. More information about the fits, the shorts, and the denim jacket can be found on Indigoskin’s website.
