Benzak’s Spring Summer ‘19 newness
Fresh from the trade show circuit, many brands are about to launch new collections for the upcoming spring/summer season. In the following weeks, we will see many new garments arriving in stores, some of which might cause us to make a new purchase! Although heritage denim brands are known for their timeless collections, every season we see new eye-catching products being released and SS19 is no exception.
Benzak is one brand that has released some incredibly cool items as part of their SS19 collection. As we have come to expect, Benzak’s drops are fresh, versatile and dripping of indigo. With the ‘Made in Japan’ line as a mainstay, SS19 is mainly focussed around the ‘European Made’ collection. By releasing some great new styles and updating existing garments, Benzak is ready for the upcoming season.
As you might expect, Benzak’s SS19 collection is all about denim. With new jeans and a perfectly designed new jacket, the brand’s collection continues to develop and diversify. Benzak have also released some great new logo tees, including their new sportswear logo with the world famous crackle print, available in a custom-made heavy jersey fabric.
We’ve taken time to highlight three key items below from the upcoming collection, so read on to find out more…
B-01 SLIM 15 oz. Kojima selvedge
B-01 SLIM 15 oz. Kojima selvedge is new to the Benzak collection, but it may seem familiar to those of you who have been following the Benzak x Cultizm x Robin Denim fading contest. During the contest, the B-01 SLIM 15 oz. Kojima selvedge proved to fade fast and be a faithful companion for many denim heads. However, with only 50 pairs available, many kept asking for a re-launch and with SS19 Benzak are making this fading champion available to the masses.
The B-01 SLIM is a slim fit with a shaped top block and waistband, making the top block more ‘round’ which helps it to stay in place. It is made of 15 oz. Japanese selvedge denim which has been woven by Collect Mills. It is the first Japanese fabric in Benzak’s European Made collection, and with remastered Benzak features, the B-01 Kojima selvedge will certainly get your blue blood flowing.
B-03 TAPERED special #2 15 oz. vintage indigo selvedge
The B-03 tapered fit fills the gap between Benzak’s slim and regular fit. It is a relaxed fit, providing room in the top block and thighs. It has a lower crotch and maintains a slight taper throughout the leg which results in a narrow opening at the hem. Just like the B-01, the B-03 has a shaped waistband, which avoids sagging and gives a comfortable fit.
Whilst the fit is not new for Benzak, SS19 sees the B-03 come in an exclusive special #2 fabric. Woven by Candiani, it is the second Benzak exclusive fabric by the mill and is also known as ‘vintage indigo selvedge’ denim. It is woven of 100% cotton and comes at the weight of 15 oz. The selvedge ID features both ‘Azurri’ (blue) and ‘Oranje’ (orange) which emphasizes the friendship between the Italian mill and the Dutch denim brand.
BDJ-02 RIDER JACKET
Last season, Benzak released their first denim jacket. It was a hybrid between the Type I and Type II jackets, with a slightly longer length. It turned out to be a great success and sold quickly. For SS19, Benzak proudly presents their second jacket, the BDJ-02 RIDER JACKET. The jacket is a take on a classic ‘biker jacket’ with Benzak’s signature details and comes in two beautiful fabrics. Firstly, in the special #2 15 oz. vintage indigo selvedge, the fabric that we described above. Secondly it comes in Benzak’s new 11 oz. industrial selvedge fabric, which is lighter in both weight and color. The BDJ-02 RIDER JACKET 11 oz. industrial selvedge has been sewn with a blue yarn and is featuring black hardware. With the weight of 11 oz. the industrial selvedge is particularly suitable for a jacket, and will feel comfortably from the moment you put it on.
Conclusions
With SS19, Benzak continues to build a strong, solid and versatile ‘European Made’ collection. On top of an already well-balanced denim offering, SS19 adds more options, more high-quality fabrics and more value to Benzak’s collection. We are truly impressed by the overall look of the SS19 and by all the garments individually. Especially with the relaunch of the B-01 Kojima Selvedge; it was like seeing an old friend after a long time apart…
