Benzak Denim Developers AW19 Preview

Renowned Amsterdam based denim brand BENZAK is about to launch their AW19 collection. Over the course of three drops, we’ll see the brand sticks to its core denim roots. As BENZAK continues to expand the offering will be broader than we’ve ever seen before. Expect to see new fabrics and colourways which won’t disappoint!

In a short number of years, BENZAK has established themselves at the forefront of the raw denim and quality lifestyle goods scene through elevating Japanese and European denim into contemporary fits for the modern-day man. BENZAK has evolved into a lifestyle orientated denim brand. They represent the taste of denim and style enthusiasts, with clean designs and contemporary cuts, while paying homage to the denim industries roots. BENZAK’s European line is the perfect example of why BENZAK is a brand to be associated with. They are in-tune with their wider community and the menswear scene as a whole. The brand is offering high-quality selvedge denim at an accessible price point, without cutting corners on quality.

Autumn/Winter 19

BENZAK is always true to their humble denim beginnings while consistently releasing a strong collection of new garments every season. The brand continues to impress season upon season. Keeping their collections fresh and versatile. The upcoming Autumn/Winter collection is no exception and includes both seasonal colours as well as the brands core Japanese and European denim approach.

We recently visited BENZAK’s studio in Amsterdam to preview the upcoming drops. After running through the collection with Lennaert, we were really impressed by each individual item. We’ve highlighted some key pieces below and you can explore the entire collection on their website.

NEW FABRIC: 15 oz. Japanese tiger selvedge by Kurabo Mills

From AW19 BENZAK will introduce a brand new Japanese selvedge fabric with an attention-grabbing unique name: 15 oz. Japanese tiger selvedge! The name comes from the black and yellow edges, paying homage to the biggest cat in the world. It’s made by the famous Kurabo Mills and comes in at the versatile weight of 15 oz. The fabric is of a green cast origin thus giving it a vintage look after lengthy wear. As the denim is woven at a high tension the exterior is stiff and demonstrates its natural strength.

The 15 oz. Japanese tiger selvedge will be available in the B-01 SLIM jeans and BDJ-01 COWBOY JACKET. This is the second Japanese fabric available in the BENZAK ‘European Made’ collection. Both garments will bear the classic hallmarks of the brand and include many subtle details such as black and yellow threads in line with the selvedge ID, brass and black metal trimmings, a black vegetable tanned leather patch and the signature bull logo embroidered in black yarn. Both items will be available from the end of September.

BDD-711 green cast 15 oz. RHT

As of mid-September, BENZAK is offering their popular BDD-711 in another of their Japanese fabrics, the classic green cast (previously used for the BDD-006 fit). The BDD-711 is an iconic cut from BENZAK’s ‘Made in Japan’ line. It’s a regular fit jean with tapered legs, a shaped top-block, dropped crotch, and roomy thighs, which allow for extra movement. The contemporary design considers traditional styles and comfortably fit most body types.

The fabric is called ‘green cast’ because of the unique green hue that will become more apparent after washing and wear. The vintage indigo appearance is no stranger to the denim enthusiast. A similar colour can be seen on many deadstock fabrics from decades ago. Both the fabric and the jeans are made in Japan.

B-03 TAPERED in 15.5 oz. Kojima selvedge

The 15.5 oz. Kojima selvedge denim might sound familiar as it was the fabric used for the BENZAK x CULTIZM x ROBIN DENIM fading contest. Due to the huge success of the contest, the beautiful fading results, and many requests, the brand rolled out the fabric in their B-01 slim fit earlier this year. The Kojima selvedge fabric was the first Japanese fabric to make it into the ‘European Made’ BENZAK collection. From the end of September, the 15.5 oz. Kojima selvedge denim will also be available in the B-03 silhouette. The B-03 is a regular fit with tapered legs and a shaped waistband (which helps the jeans stay in place around the hips).

As mentioned above, we have featured only a few pieces from their latest collection which includes many more great garments. Head over to BENZAK’s website to view the complete collection.

Stay tuned for more content on the brand in future!
