Hellequino x Robin Denim – The Handyman Jacket
Hellequino and Robin Denim have been working together for the last two years on a variety of blue blooded content. Shortly after Hellequino was established, we started to work together in order to present the innovative Italian brand to the denim community. Now, in a short period of time, Hellequino is an internationally known brand which is shipping it’s product around the globe. But this was just the beginning. Read on to find out about our most recent collaborative project, the ‘Handyman’ jacket!
The Brand
For those who might not be familiar, Hellequino is an Italian based denim brand with an in-house production facility. The brand evolved naturally as a research project coming out of their production house, named KEO. The brand, as well as KEO, was founded by Gabriele Marcotullio, an Italian designer with decades of experience in the fashion industry.
Gabriele’s love and passion for denim led to the creation of the brand, which combined with a high level of craftsmanship and product knowledge, has brought Hellequino to where it is today. The brand takes a unique approach towards materials and their willingness to incorporate innovation into their garments is what makes this Italian denim powerhouse stand out!
The Collaboration
As we’ve been working with Gabriele for the last couple of years, a direct collaboration might not be a great surprise. But it is challenging to go from indigo ideas to a denim reality! Following countless in-depth discussions about denim, products and the industry, we decided that it was time to make a move. We wanted to a design and produce a garment together to show our shared love for our favorite fabric. We felt that two factors should be at the forefront of the collaboration; the garment should carry Hellequino’s DNA and it should be suitable for the inclement Dutch weather.
The Handyman Jacket
We wanted to develop a jacket that was functional, durability and showcased Hellequino’s denim innovation. Using the brands popular Utility Jacket, we made some slight modifications to give it a Robin Denim feel. Named the Handyman, the jacket comes in a perfected slim cut, making sure it will fit comfortably and provide a contemporary look with some Italian sartorial flare.
The jacket is made from a beautiful 12.5 oz. raw denim from Berto Industria Tessile, a renowned Italian denim mill. Berto is the oldest denim mill in Italy and they are famous for constantly developing new denim fabrics of the highest quality. Over time, the 12.5 oz. denim fabric will evolve beautifully, reflecting the owners lifestyle.
The 100% cotton denim fabric is coupled with a check cotton shirt fabric that gives a super clean look on the inside and is finished with a Hellequino x Robin Denim collaboration patch. We also added olive colored eco-leather details and Hellequino’s signature custom-made hardware. With three front pockets and a military inspired back pocket (in which we fitted a feather weight, full size rainproof anorak), be ready to face all weather conditions wearing your favorite denim jacket.
