Redcast Heritage partners with Oni Denim for a special birthday treat

Established in the Spanish capital, Redcast Heritage Co. opened its digital doors to their online denim store in September 2018. By offering only the crème de la crème from the worldwide denim scene, the Madrid-based denim paradise was quickly embraced by the denim community, partly because of the well-considered denim offering, but also because of the next level customer service.

This month, Redcast Heritage is celebrating its 3rd anniversary, which comes with a rather special birthday treat in collaboration with no less than ONI Denim. And, while you might think you know what’s coming, there isn’t a drop of indigo in sight. What is involved is a unique fabric, a great fit and some fantastic details. The collaboration is limited to just 80 pairs and is available at Redcast Heritage from the 3rd of September. Keep reading to find out more about the Redcast Heritage x ONI Denim 622HOX “Heavy Oxford” Relaxed Tapered Jeans.

3 Years of Redcast Heritage Co.

Redcast Heritage Co. is founded by Isabel and Eduardo, a young couple from Madrid who combined their shared passion for quality casual menswear with their long cherished dream to run a small business together. In their global search for passionate artisans and small brands offering the best possible textile quality, they became fully immersed by the culture of Japanese denim. From this point forward, Isabel and Eduardo started to search for authentic and unique denim brands, and they’ve continued to bolster their roster at Redcast Heritage Co.

One of the benchmark brands at Redcast Heritage is the iconic Japanese denim brand ONI Denim. Known for making some of the most detailed denim fabrics on the planet, ONI has built a spotless reputation all while keeping its origin shrouded in mystery. The owner of the brand, mister Masao Oishi, was involved in the early days of the Japanese denim industry, and has elevated denim-making to an art form during his 60 years of experience. Due to a very limited production capacity, ONI Denim is only available at a handful of premium denim stores, including Redcast Heritage Co.

In October 2019, one year after Redcast Heritage was established, Eduardo and Isabel travelled to Japan to visit some of the brands that they were offering in-store. During the trip, the two had a meeting with Mr. Oishi-san, a conversation which ended up taking many hours. Eduardo and Isabel were fascinated by the story of the brand, and from that moment onwards the relationship between Redcast Heritage and ONI Denim continued to thrive.

With the 3rd anniversary of Redcast Heritage coming closer, Mr. Oishi came up with the proposal to team up for a special anniversary collaborative release and the results of which is finally available.

The 14 oz. Heavy Oxford Khaki fabric

The collaboration between Redcast Heritage and ONI needed to become something special, something that wouldn’t just be your next pair of jeans. Something really special. Something which would stand-out from your wardrobe, something more than just another pair of jeans. It needed to compliment any denim heads rotation and it needed to have a comfortable year-round weight. In search for a fabric which had all of these characteristics and more, Redcast Heritage and ONI Denim selected the 14 oz. ‘Heavy Oxford’ in Khaki Brown.

The 14 oz. Heavy Oxford fabric is thick and sturdy for an oxford but equally light and comfortable at the same time. In order to realize the beautiful khaki brown color, the yarns were dyed in Sulphur. Where canvas and oxford fabrics are usually dyed after being woven with a white thread, the yarns of this specific fabric are dyed before weaving to create a unique depth to the fabric and to guarantee beautiful fades after wear and wash. The fabric is sanforized to remove shrinkage and one-washed to provide an extra touch of comfort, as well as remove any excess of dye and enhance the color which exhibits a slightly worn personality.

The 622HOX Fit

As for the fit, the two chose the ONI Denim 622 silhouette which is a modern slim fit with extra room in the top block. The cut has a medium rise, a taper through the leg and a narrow hem opening. Being one of ONI’s most popular fits, the silhouette fits perfectly with today’s trends, working well with both sneakers and boots.

The jeans feature a custom made leather patch and pocket flasher which is designed by Daniel Sheridan. Daniel is one of Isabel and Eduardo’s favorite graphic designers, adding a further personal touch to the release. The patch features both the ONI and Redcast logos, perfectly framing the unity of the two collaborators. Furthermore, the jeans also include a number of ONI signature details including black branded doughnut buttons and the ONI arcuate on the back pockets.
