Momotaro x Denimio x Robin Denim: The Ultimate Cobalt Blue Denim Jacket
Remember when we teamed up with Momotaro Jeans and Denimio in August last year for an exclusive and limited pair of jeans? Remember that incredible and exclusive 14 oz. ‘Cobalt Blue’ Japanese selvedge denim we used for the collaboration? You can imagine how proud we were, teaming up with two seasoned giants from the Japanese denim industry and making a collaboration jean with such a special fabric. It actually became one of the bestselling collaborations Denimio has ever released and they’ve done some stellar collaborations over the years!
Momotaro Jeans has always been one of our favorite Japanese makers and we have always kept a close and familiar relationship with the team. Denimio, completing the ‘denim-trio’, sells some of the most sought-after Japanese denim brands which are hard to find elsewhere. After our successful team-up, we decided to put our heads together one more time and we’re super proud to present to you another exclusive collaboration: DM009ROBIN 14OZ MOMOTARO JEANS × ROBIN DENIM × DENIMIO COLLAB MODEL COBALT BLUE SELVEDGE 2ND TYPE JACKET – which is available as of today!

The DM009ROBIN Jacket
Elaborating on the successful collaboration jean, we made plans for a follow-up on the same principles: the 14 oz. ‘Cobalt Blue’ denim fabric. Exclusively developed by Momotaro, the ‘Cobalt Blue’ has a very textured and slubby surface, hallmarked by a beautiful blue / white selvedge. As the fabric comes in a one-wash it results in a supple and comfortable wear from the beginning. The incredibly vibrant cobalt blue weft adds that extra bit of depth to the fabric, giving the extraordinary look we wanted to achieve with unique fading potential.
The DM009ROBIN, owing its name to Denimio and Momotaro teaming up for the ninth time, has been executed in Momotaro’s incredibly popular Type II denim jacket (2105SP-3) silhouette. The jacket features pleats at either side of the placket and incorporates box stitching into the design – which has been sewn with a light blue thread – building on the rich history and signature accents of the jacket. The jacket has been slightly updated to fit better for the modern day consumer, with added ‘hand warmer’ pockets at the hip.

The Details
The iconic Momotaro ‘going to battle’ stripes – one of the details which made us fall in love with the brand many years ago – are a symbol of Japanese tradition representing honor and strength. As with the jeans, we chose a matching and exclusive ‘going to battle’ stripe design incorporating the Momotaro ‘peach logo’. The battle stripes are silk screened on the left arm of the jacket and will only look better with wear and tear!
As for the leather patch, we decided to use the same leather patch as we used for the first collaboration. The thick vegetable tanned cowhide leather patch exhibits an artwork of Peach Boy Momotaro in front of Amsterdam’s famous architecture. The accents of the patch are also indigo and just like the denim, the leather will age beautifully.
The third detail we want to highlight is the traditional Japanese fabric we choose as a lining for the yoke, chest pockets and hand warmer pockets. The fabric finds its heritage in Japan’s rich textile history and features iconic Japanese style waves. The pattern fits naturally with the vibrant cobalt blue weft of the fabric and adds a further legitimacy to the jacket.
