Naked and Famous x Dragon Ball Z Denim Drops at Tenue De Nimes
Our good friends at Tenue de Nîmes have recently dropped some fresh denim releases from some of our favorite brands including APC, Double RL and their own label Tenue.. The store continues to carry a strong denim offering and we always like to visit to see what is on the shelves. The store recently celebrated its tenth anniversary, a period which has seen Tenue De Nimes become a foundation in not only the Dutch denim scene but on also on a global scale. Menno and the TdN team have continued to curate an informed and exciting offering of denim products, by keeping their eyes open for new and exciting brands, while continuing to nurture and offer classic reliable staples.
One brand which has continued to keep things cutting edge, is Canada’s Naked & Famous. Over the year, Brandon Svarc’s brand has gained a name for itself by pushing the boundaries of fabric and constantly coming up with innovative and exciting ways to enhance their denim offering. Fortunately, our friends at TdN recognized the potential of the brand and as of today, another exclusive and exciting denim drop is happening.
The Team Up
The worlds of raw denim and Japanese anime are colliding once again with the Naked & Famous x Dragon Ball Z capsule collection. The collection includes jackets and jeans, all made from high quality Japanese denim and based on characters from the popular Japanese anime.
As we know, Naked & Famous pioneers the use of innovative and interesting denim fabrics. We’ve seen ‘Glow in the dark’ and ‘Scratch-n-Sniff’ denim over the years, as well as a host of collaborations including Street Fighter!
The Collaboration
Dragon Ball Z characters including Goku, Trunks, Vegeta and Cell, are all translated into different custom-developed fabrics which are distinct in weight, properties, and colors. Trunks comes in an 18 oz. heavyweight solid black denim, which is based on the jeans he wears himself, whereas Vegeta gets a 16 oz. unsanforized indigo fabric. Both the Cell and Goku are constructed with a 12.5 oz. stretch selvedge denim but utilize different weft colors. We love that the brand has been so creative with fabric use while incorporating elements of the characters themselves; Cell jeans have a green colored weft which matches his exoskeleton!
In addition to the fabrics themselves, there are other details on the jeans which are worth highlighting. For example, all jeans feature a custom vegetable tanned leather patch and pocket bag artwork which references the character and model. The jeans are also finished with custom branded buttons which are specially made for this collaboration and all jeans are entirely made in Canada.
Release Schedule
Each model is going to be offered in three popular Naked & Famous fits, namely; Super Guy, Weird Guy, and Easy Guy. The capsule collection will also include two denim jackets, one for Goku and another for Trunks. The collaboration will be released in four phases and only carried by official Naked & Famous retailers.
13th September – Vegeta Super Saiyan Selvedge Jeans
27th September – Goku Super Saiyan Selvedge Jeans and Jacket
4th October – Cell Perfect Selvedge Jeans
11th October – Trunks Future Selvedge Jeans and Jacket
Tenue de Nîmes will carry both the Vegeta and Goku Super Saiyan jeans, from the dates noted above. Very limited quantities will be offered, so get ready! You can head over to Tenue de Nîmes today to order the Vegeta Super Saiyan selvedge jeans as the first release from the capsule collection.
